Our Story

Updated: Nov 6, 2021

Iron Edge Nutrition was founded on June 1, 2021, as Jared Adkins and Branton Sanders officially came together with a vision to create the most elite nutrition company possible. However, Jared and Branton’s story starts long before Iron Edge Nutrition was even a thought in their minds.

The two both attended Whiteland Community High School in Whiteland, Indiana. Even though Jared was a year older than Branton, the two still began to form a friendship through the game they both grew up loving. As teammates on the Whiteland Community High School baseball team, the pair played three seasons together and won an IHSAA 4A Sectional Championship. Their time together was also extended in the summer months being teammates on the Indiana Jaguars baseball team, traveling all around the Midwest competing in weekend travel tournaments. They also played a season of high school tennis together when Jared convinced Branton to come out for the team the Fall of Branton’s Junior year and Jared’s Senior year.

Even though Jared and Branton both had the same aspiration of moving on to the next level to play college baseball, they were eventually split up as Jared decided to continue his education and playing career at Taylor University, and Branton went on to study and play at Anderson University. Although their respective teams didn’t meet on the field for games during the season, the two schools would still get the opportunity to play an exhibition game against one another each preseason. Jared and Branton, who were accustomed to being teammates their whole life, were now in opposing dugouts competing against one another for the first time.

Jared had an exceptional 4-year career at Taylor University where he received his Exercise Science degree while competing on the diamond for the Trojans. He was named a 2x member of the All-Crossroads League Team, 2x NAIA All-American and currently holds 2 records for the Trojans: home runs in a season (16) and stolen bases in a season (33). Jared is currently putting his studies from Taylor University to use as he is currently a 2nd year medical student at Marian University pursuing a degree in Osteopathic Medicine. He is interested in pursuing sports medicine along with opening a direct primary care practice on the southside of Indianapolis in the future.

Branton also had an esteemed collegiate career at Anderson University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and his Masters Degree in Business Administration, while also playing for the Ravens baseball program. He was a 2x member of the HCAC All-Conference Team, a 5x member of the HCAC All-Conference Academic Team, the 2019 Carl Erskine of Excellence Award winner, and a 3x elected Team Captain. He also holds single season program records for On Base Percentage (.571), Hit by Pitches (22), and is the only player in school history to hit 10+ Homeruns (12), and steal 30+ bases (32) in the same season. In his final year at Anderson, Branton also worked towards his personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is currently employed at Life Time in Fishers, Indiana, where he is pursuing his passion of fitness, nutrition, and health. He has ambitions of eventually owning and operating his own gym in the future.

After spending the majority of their college careers apart, the two were finally reunited in the winter of 2020, nearly five years later from their time spent together as high school teammates and friends. What started out as simply catching up over breakfast one Saturday morning, quickly grew into more serious discussions and weekly meetings about an idea that Jared had run across Branton. This idea was the result of the pair’s shared love of fitness, nutrition, and health. They were both athletes their entire lives, and understood the importance of taking care of their bodies through proper nutritional behaviors and fitness regimens. An area they wanted to improve however was the supplements they were using. They had both used various supplement brands in the past, and knew they could do better when it came to the quality and quantity of the ingredients being used. After 8 months of research and preparation in between Jared's medical school studies and Branton's final year at Anderson University and embarkment into his personal training career, Iron Edge Nutrition finally came to fruition.
